Sustainable Materials
We aim to use low-impact materials in all our products across La Residencia. Our paper is recycled and our fleet of vehicles is electric where possible—even our room keys are biodegradable.
Local Collaborations
We’re proud to work with Mallorcan organisations to promote sustainability, including Dos Alquimistas, Cleanwave and the Mallorca Preservation Foundation. We also enjoy supporting local community groups like the Deià Children’s Cycling Club and Deià Theatre.
Saving Water
The island’s water resources are limited, so it’s important to us to reduce water wastage where we can. We’ve installed water meters to control consumption and prevent leaks, use water-reducing additives in room taps and have even decreased the depth of our main pool.
Community Champions
Local businesses and producers help us introduce our guests to authentic Mallorcan experiences. We pride ourselves on supporting the local community, from forging strong relationships with Deià’s artisans to purchasing more than 80% of our culinary produce from the island.
Donkey Trail
Donkeys have always played a key role in the culture and heritage of Deià. Our guests can meet La Residencia’s own adorable donkeys and join them on a hike through the countryside guided by local residents. It’s the perfect way to discover local stories and traditions while gaining a unique insight into the surrounding flora and fauna.
The Legacy Of Joan Miró
We have a long-standing connection with one of the most renowned painters to call Mallorca home, Joan Miró. To honor his legacy our Restaurante Miró features a permanent collection of 33 Miró lithographs. Guests can also enjoy our Tea with Miró experience—an indulgent afternoon tea featuring a limited-edition tea set inspired by Miró’s work.
Protecting the Landscape
The Serra de Trumantana was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. Our enduring mission is to help protect our surroundings and preserve the distinctive dry stone terraces and olive tree groves the region is celebrated for.
Esment X La Residencia
La Residencia is delighted to be working with Esment, a Mallorca-based organisation dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families.
As part of this special collaboration, Esment is committed to producing high-quality, seasonal produce from the hotel’s gardens, elevating the culinary experience for our guests and promoting sustainable agriculture.
Esment will also help to maintain the stunning olives groves that surround the property, using specialist treatments to preserve soil quality and tree health. During the next harvesting season, they’re expected to yield 8400kg of olives and 1344 litres of olive oil, contributing to the preservation of Deià’s agricultural heritage.
