Home to the Dukes of Marlborough since the early 18th century and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace is a monumental baroque country house.
The estate boasts staterooms, exhibitions, and formal gardens and parklands landscaped by Capability Brown. Among its interesting incarnations the palace served as a convalescence hospital during World War I, and as a base for MI5 operations during World War II.
Look out for the beautiful painted ceilings of the Great Hall and Saloon, and the permanent Churchill exhibition in the Old Stables.
