Day 1

Edinburgh

Begin with a one-night stay at the Balmoral Hotel. Enjoy a half-day walking tour around the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which includes the Royal Mile and Grassmarket. Explore the city's cobbled streets, Arthur's Seat and Edinburgh Castle.

Day 2

Edinburgh

Board the Royal Scotsman train in Edinburgh. Travelling north, cross the Firth of Forth via the Firth Railway Bridge. Enjoy afternoon tea as we pass Arbroath, Montrose and Aberdeen, arriving in Keith. Enjoy an informal dinner and nightcap.

Day 3

Kyle of Lochalsh

Travel to Inverness and join the Kyle of Lochalsh line—one of the most scenic routes in the UK. Enjoy lunch on board, then visit the glorious Attadale Gardens near Strathcarron. Or disembark at Plockton for a boat trip to see wild seals. Dinner this evening is formal.

Day 4

Carrbridge

After breakfast, visit Ballindaloch Castle. Travel to Garve to visit clothing emporium Campbell’s of Beauly, or opt to take a historic walk along a Drover’s route along the Black Water River or to the Silver Bridge. Dinner is served on board, followed by live entertainment. Spend the night in Boat of Garten.

Day 5

Rothiemurchus Estate

Visit Rothiemurchus Estate for fishing, archery, clay pigeon shooting or an estate tour. Rejoining the train at Kingussie, eat lunch as you journey to Dunkeld. Disembark for a visit to Glamis Castle and Pitlochry. After meeting the train at Perth, enjoy a formal dinner on board.

Day 6

Edinburgh

Arrive back in Edinburgh and disembark for your onward travel arrangements.
