Belmond Sanctuary Lodge is located within the sanctuary of Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and voted one of the New Wonders of the World.
Part of the Cusco Region of Peru, it sits almost 2,500 metres above sea level. The hotel and citadel are a short walk or bus ride away from the town of Aguas Calientes and 80 kilometres from Cusco.
How to get to Machu Picchu
Belmond Sanctuary Lodge is uniquely situated at a mountain summit. The only way to and from the hotel is to take a private bus service run by Consettur. Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes train station, please purchase your round-trip bus ticket from the Consettur booth. Tickets are priced at US$20 per person (subject to change), which must be paid in cash. Both USD and local currency are accepted.
Bus Time Table
- Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu: from 5:30am to 3:30pm
- Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes: from 6:00am to 5:30pm
Buses depart every 20 minutes. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes.
Please note that there are no taxis from Aguas Calientes to the Machu Picchu Citadel.
For transport after bus operating hours, please contact Consettur directly at +51 84 21 1134 or +51 84 22 2125, Monday – Saturday from 8am to 12:45pm and 3pm to 6pm, Sundays or holidays from 8am to 12:45pm.
The cost for after-hours private service (bus-charter) is US$350 (subject to change) for a one-way journey.

Machu Picchu Citadel Tickets
The Machu Picchu citadel is open daily from 6am to 4pm. Tickets are personal, non-transferable and valid for one calendar day only. Once purchased, dates cannot be changed.
We strongly advise you to purchase entry tickets in advance, as only a limited amount of visitors are allowed inside the Machu Picchu citadel each day. Please contact the Ministry of Culture’s call centre at +51- 08 458 2030 to purchase your tickets.
