Day 1 - 2

Singapore

Raffles Hotel

Arrive in Singapore for a two-night stay at the iconic Raffles Hotel.

Explore the city at leisure or book a half-day sightseeing tour with us (supplement applies).

Sightseeing options include a bumboat ride along Singapore River, or visits to the Padang, Cricket Club, Parliament House, Supreme Court, City Hall., Thian Hock Keng Temple and the National Orchid Garden.

Day 3

Malaysia

Eastern & Oriental Express

At the hotel, check-in for your train journey and depart for Woodland Railway Station.

As the Eastern & Oriental Express train leaves Malaysia afternoon tea is served on board. Spend time relaxing or exploring the train. After dinner, disembark for an evening stroll through Kuala Lumpur’s magnificent station.

Day 4

Thailand

Eastern & Oriental Express

Enjoy breakfast in your cabin before disembarking at Butterworth.

Choose one of our guided tours of colonial Georgetown or Penang Island; discover pre-World War II mosques, temples, churches, bazaars and shophouses.

Rejoin the train for a delicious lunch, and then watch the ever-changing scenery as you cross into Thailand.

Day 5 - 6

Bangkok

Mandarin Oriental

Alight at the River Kwai Bridge station for a cruise guided by a local historian. Afterward, visit the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre and take some time to visit the Don Rak War Cemetery. Return to the train for lunch before arriving in Bangkok.

Enjoy a private transfer to the famous Mandarin Oriental Hotel and settle in for your two-night stay. Explore the city at leisure, or let us arrange a guided excursion.

Day 7 - 8

Yangon

Belmond Governor’s Residence

Following breakfast our representative will arrange your private transfer to the airport for your Thai Airways Economy Class flight to Yangon. Upon arrival your private transfer will whisk you away to the romantic, colonial-style Belmond Governor's Residence, where you’ll settle in for a two-night stay.

Tucked in the elegant Embassy Quarter, this delightful hotel conjures up a bygone era while offering every modern amenity.

Explore Yangon's great cultural attractions. The golden pagodas, fascinating National Museum and lively Bogyoke Market are just minutes away.

Day 9

Mandalay

Belmond Orcaella

Enjoy a private transfer to the port and embark on Belmond Orcaella for an unforgettable nine-day river cruise.

After lunch, enjoy an introductory lecture about the heritage buildings you sail past along the Ayeyarwady River. A welcome cocktail party and introduction to the ship’s crew precedes a fabulous dinner.

Day 10

Ayeyarwady and Chindwin Rivers

Belmond Orcaella

This morning visit Danuphyu, a historically important town during the Anglo-Burmese War.

See General Maha Bandula memorial at Pali University, followed by a trip to a cheroot maker and local tea shops. Afternoon tea is accompanied by a lecture on poets and writers in Myanmar.

Day 11

Ayeyarwady and Chindwin Rivers

Belmond Orcaella

Spend the day relaxing on board as the ship makes its way towards the ancient capital of Pyay.

On board entertainment today includes a cookery class, astrology readings and a longyi (traditional dress) tying demonstration. Wear your longyi at this evening’s pre-dinner cocktail party.

Day 12

Ayeyarwady and Chindwin Rivers

Belmond Orcaella

Arrive in Pyay in the morning and disembark for a visit to the impressive Shwesadaw Pagoda and ten-storey Buddha in Sri Ksetra.

Return to Belmond Orcaella and spend the rest of the afternoon sailing through the stunning scenery.

Day 13

Ayeyarwady and Chindwin Rivers

After a full morning sailing, enjoy an afternoon stop to explore the quaint Gwechaung village by ox-cart for first-hand experience of the rural lifestyle along the Ayeyarwady River.

This evening dinner is served at Min Hla Fort, the site of a great battle during the third Anglo-Burmese War.

Day 14

Ayeyarwady and Chindwin Rivers

This morning we arrive at the trade port of Magwe. Enjoy a tuk tuk tour of the busy market and see the famous Myathalon Pagoda.

Day 15

Ayeyarwady and Chindwin Rivers

Belmond Orcaella

This morning disembark at Sale to view the exquisite 19th-century wooden monastery Yout-Saun-Kyaung. A bus excursion takes in the most important sights of Bagan. Lunch is taken at the Sunset Garden restaurant in Bagan.

Day 16

Bagan

Belmond Orcaella

Join in the morning excursion to Bagan and visit the Shwezigon Pagoda, the bustling market and Min Nan Thu.

This afternoon there is a choice of activities. Travel to the villages of Gu Byauk Gyi and Pwa Saw, or take a private horse and cart or bicycle tour within the ancient city.

Enjoy the evening’s farewell cocktail party and entertainment before your final dinner on board.

Day 17

Bagan

Belmond Orcaella

Disembark after breakfast and take a private transfer to the airport for your domestic flight from Bagan to Yangon. Continue with your onward travel arrangements.
