Destination
As the former capital of the Inca empire, Cusco is bursting with fascinating history – and at Monasterio, you are in prime position to explore its wonders.
Baroque Arts
Our luxury hotel in Cusco is a former 16th-century baroque monastery, home to the powerful art and architecture of the Cusco School.
Resting on the original foundations of Inca Emperor Amaru Qhata’s palace where ancient stonework remains perfectly set, Monasterio encapsulates the spirit of historic Cusco.
In 1595, the site was transformed into the San Antonio Abad Monastery, a place of devotion and study for generations of monks. An ornate chapel soon rose within its walls, filling the cloisters with sacred music and candlelight.
Centuries later, in 1965, Monasterio entered a new era as a luxury hotel, its serene courtyards gathered around a 300-year-old Andean cedar – the last of its kind in Cusco and a silent witness to the passage of time.
