Baroque Art
A masterpiece of Spanish-Colonial Baroque architecture dating back to 1595, Monasterio is a gateway to Cusco’s cultural legacy. With stone arches, graceful cloisters and gilded details, the building is designated a protected landmark by Peru’s National Institute of Culture.
The hotel’s art collection is among the most significant in Peru, featuring 18th-century colonial religious paintings created by the renowned Cusco School. Vaulted ceilings frame gilded altarpieces and oil paintings of saints and angels – each piece reflecting the skill of Cusco’s artists.
These works, layered with symbolism and local identity, invite reflection on a pivotal moment in Latin American art. The deep reds, golds and blues characteristic of the Cusqueña School reveal a dialogue between European devotion and Andean expression; our collection can be brought to life with daily tours led by experts in religious art.
Here, every corridor and chapel preserves a quiet sense of continuity between faith, craftsmanship and culture.
