We offer several pet-friendly rooms, where an array of luxury pet amenities await. At our restaurants, treat your pet with our dedicated pet menu during Afternoon Tea at The Lounge or by enjoying drinks, snacks, or a sumptuous meal at Oasis, Planet Bar, or Verandah, where special treats are available to order for your furry companions. Meanwhile, our pet concierge service can recommend, walkers, sitters, groomers, excursions and much more.

Who is Mount Nelson named after?
Mount Nelson takes its name from Lord Nelson, the naval commander who fought in the Napoleonic Wars, as well as tipping our hat to the nearby Table Mountain.
When was Mount Nelson built?
The land upon which we stand was first divided and sold in 1743 and flourished as a grand house with gardens throughout the 19th century, before opening as a hotel in 1899.

Where is Mount Nelson and can I park there?
Our hotel is within easy reach from Table Mountain, Cape Town International Airport (CPT), famous Clifton beaches and the V & A Waterfront.

We have a complimentary on-site parking garage, where 24-hour security ensures your vehicle is always safe.
How can we get around during our stay?
Guests can get around using private transfers arranged through the concierge at an additional cost, or by taking advantage of the complimentary courtesy shuttle to the V&A Waterfront, which runs every two hours from 9am to 7pm, with return trips every two hours from 9:30am to 7:30pm and a travel time of approximately 10–15 minutes. Golf carts are available on request, and while bicycles are not available on the property, they can be hired at an additional cost through the concierge.
What is the cost of airport transfers to and from Mount Nelson?
Transfers to and from the property can be arranged between Cape Town International Airport (CIA) and the hotel using a range of vehicles. Options include:
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class (up to 2 passengers) at 1,375 ZAR one way
- Mercedes-Benz S-Class (up to 2 passengers) at 2,105 ZAR one way
- Mercedes-Benz Vito (up to 5 passengers) at 1,375 ZAR one way
- Mercedes-Benz Viano (up to 5 passengers) at 1,660 ZAR one way
- Toyota Quantum (up to 9 passengers) at 1,795 ZAR one way.
Electric and hybrid options are also available including a fully electric Mercedes-Benz EQC (up to 2 passengers) at 1,810 ZAR one way.
For a more luxurious experience, guests may choose a vintage car transfer for up to 2 passengers at 3,250 ZAR one way.
Please note that transfers departing before 7:00 AM or after 11:00 PM are subject to an additional surcharge of 300 ZAR per way.

What safety measures are in place at Mount Nelson?
Mount Nelson has a gated entrance, 24-hour onsite security, electric fencing around the perimeter, locks and spy eyeholes on each door and mosquito spray available on request.
