Community Immersion
At Rio Sagrado, every stay is an invitation to connect deeply with the people and traditions of the Sacred Valley. We work hand in hand with local producers, farmers and artisans, ensuring that your visit helps sustain the region’s culture and environment.
We can arrange for you to meet the women of the Asociación de Hortalizas Agroecológicos Pumahuanca-Urubamba, who supply us with more than 20 varieties of organic vegetables, and the farmers of Patacancha, whose native potatoes have graced our tables since 2011. These partnerships provide stable income, preserve agricultural heritage and give guests a true taste of the valley.
Our ties go beyond the kitchen. On the property, we bottle-raise baby alpacas before returning them to local herders, an exchange that keeps ancient traditions alive. We also co-create experiences with the community such as chef-led market tours in Urubamba, shaman-led Pachamama (Earth-offering) ceremonies and horseback rides that pass through nearby villages.
Caring for the land is as important as celebrating its people. Together with local authorities, schools and residents, we have planted thousands of native trees, led large-scale river clean-ups and educated hundreds on environmental stewardship, removing more than 1.5 tons of waste from waterways.
When you stay with us, you are not just visiting the Sacred Valley – you are becoming part of its story.
