Pets under 12kg are welcome at La Samanna for a fee of 150 USD per pet per stay (fee is waived for assistance, emotional support and service dogs). We offer beds, snacks and food and water bowls. Per owners are asked to always keep their dog on a leash on hotel grounds. Pets are not permitted in the lobby, restaurants, bar or spa. Well-behaved dogs may stay by the owner’s side in the pool area if kept in a carrier or on a dog mat.

La Samanna is located on Baie Longue, one of the best beaches in St Martin on the island’s eastern side.

La Samanna has 76 total accommodations, which is made up of 25 rooms, 51 suites and 8 villas.

In the early 1970s, businessman James Frankel went looking for a place to build a hotel and home for his family on Saint Martin, settling on the shores of Baie Longue. In 1973 the hotel was christened La Samanna, weaving together the first names of the Frankel’s daughters, Samantha, Anouk, and Nathalie, with ‘La’ for a little French savoir faire.

In 1996, the property was purchased by Orient-Express Hotels, the company that would later be renamed Belmond in 2014. It underwent an extensive renovation in 2019, led by the London-based design firm Muza Lab.

No, La Samanna does not have a kids club. However, families can take advantage of our nanny service.

La Samanna partners with a licenced and insured French company, hiring trained and experienced baby-sitters that cater to children under 12 years old. For children under 3 years old, nannies also have a Daycare & Preschool Diploma as required by French law. All nannies can offer a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities including arts & crafts, treasure hunts and beach games. They will bring games and toys or take youngsters to enjoy other parts of the resort.

Upon request, special sports activities can also be arranged such as swimming, sailing lessons and tennis can be organised. Our baby-sitters are fluent in English, French and Spanish. Please advise on the preferred language at reservation.

For children with additional needs, nannies are licenced to take care of children and teenagers under 18 years old with disabilities and mobility issues as well as autistic spectrum disorders. Please advise at time of booking.

Baby-sitting service is available 24/7 for a minimum of 2 hours. Any hour started is due in full at the hourly rate stated below. Please note that nanny reservations made less than 24-hour in advance are subject to a USD 90 supplement. Cancellations less than 12 hours in advance will incur a 2-hour fee.

Tipping is at our guests’ discretion and we do not include service charge. The rendering of each good and service includes 4% tax.

The hotel is a 12 min drive from Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM), a 20 min drive from Marigot, a 40 min drive from Philipsburg and a 25 min drive from Grand Case–Espérance Airport.

For those arriving by boat, we are a 30 min ferry ride from Anguilla and a 90 min ferry ride from St. Barths.
