As you board our train to Machu Picchu, you are welcomed with a fiesta like no other. Live music pounds out Latin rhythms and barmen dispense Peruvian based cocktails to the beat. As the train glides between the high Andes and the Amazon cloud forest, the Observatory Bar Car fills with guests gathering to dance to the guitar and Peruvian cajón.
Our onboard musicians, Sabor y Sentimiento – meaning Flavor and Feeling – is a much-loved local favorite. Its carnival-esque music sets the tone for a fun-filled evening trip back to Cusco. Of all the musicians, the cajonero – the player of the cajón, the Peruvian percussion instrument – draws the biggest cheers. Together, passengers and crew sing and dance with an energy that is at once infectious and unforgettable.
