About
The British Pullman’s story began in the late seventies, when businessman James Sherwood bought two Orient Express 1920’s sleepers, planning to start the restoration of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express luxury train. While he originally prepared these Pullman carriages to cross the Channel and join the rake of sleeping cars in Venice, they were never used in mainland Europe.
Instead, the rest of the train was assembled by craftsmen in the UK and in 1982, the British Pullman train took its inaugural journey. Since then, our train has become a treasure of the country’s railways, journeying across the landscapes of England season after season.
