The Eve of the Eve

Madeira’s New Year celebrations kick off on the eve of the eve. Both locals and visitors often choose to dine in fine hotels and restaurants before going out partying and dancing until the night of the following day. It's traditional to dress up for the occasion, with men sporting tuxedos or dark suits and women donning cocktail gowns to fill the balmy streets of Funchal with glamour. Bars and nightclubs in the capital remain lively till dawn.
