Nativity Masses

The Nativity Masses are a true Madeiran tradition and one of the most remarkable events in the festive calendar. Rise for a beautiful dawn service of nine masses — a celebration of the Virgin Mary's pregnancy. The masses are accompanied by songs of devotion and praise, followed by Christmas songs, food and drinks in the churchyards.
