Calling all thoughtful adventurers and thrill-seekers: set out on a philosophical safari with Paul Sheller, an expert in San Bushman culture and astrology. Anticipate unforgettable helicopter rides over the Okavango Delta, game drives, illuminating evening activities and more on this voyage in Botswana.
Day One
Arrive at Savute Elephant Lodge’s private airstrip or helipad via your included plane transfer from Maun or Kasane. Our lodge offers a luxurious base rooted in our wild surroundings, with an open savannah brimming with wildlife.
After your exciting game drive, our lodge awaits with open arms to welcome you back for a delightful, convivial dinner, before your return to your luxury tented room for a blissful nights’ sleep.
Day Two
Discover more incredible wildlife as you begin another day of adventure in the Savute channel. Perhaps you’ll pair your game drive with a visit to ancient baobab trees, or the San Bushman rock paintings that have survived for thousands of years.
As the sun sets, gather around an open-air boma for an elevated braai experience. Savour expertly grilled meats, fragrant spices, and fresh, regionally sourced ingredients, as staff share stories of their heritage.
Day Three
A short 45-minute flight will take you to Eagle Island Lodge, a Belmond safari in the Okavango Delta. The ultimate explorer’s base, your safari activities here may include exploring the watery landscape on mokoro canoes, spotting bright frogs and kingfishers or even an exhilarating helicopter ride.
Back at the lodge, perhaps you’ll pay a visit to our serene Wellness Pod for one of our signature massages, before a delightful dinner celebrating the flavours of Setswana cuisine.
Day Four
Weather permitting, today you may choose to slide silently on a traditional dugout canoe, a mode of transport used by locals for centuries. Explore the shallow, clear waters, drifting past brilliant waterlilies and papyrus grasses, reaching areas inaccessible by boat.
Returning to the lodge, pay a visit to our Fish-Eagle bar, one of the most romantic spots for a pre- or post- dinner drink. If you’re feeling adventurous, opt for a night drive with spotlights and stargazing presentations under the crystal-clear skies.
Day Five
Bid farewell to Belmond’s safaris as you take a plane to the Sitatunga Private Island, a breathtaking location and one of few places where the rare sitatunga antelope can be observed wading among the swamplands nearby. Admire the lodge’s private decks, plunge pools and water views.
This small, exclusive location – there are only two suites, each resting high up amongst the established ebony tree canopy – promises dedicated service and is perfect for anyone passionate about wildlife and photography.
Day Six
Continue your unique safari experience at Sitatunga. Crocodiles and hippos are never far away, and elephants, antelope and the occasional predator also come onto the island to investigate who may be visiting. After a busy day, explore the camp’s private wine cellar and dine of a series of locally sourced delights from the à la carte menu.
Day Seven
With your heart full of memories and unforgettable sights, bid farewell to beautiful Botswana for your onward route.
