Discover the Cinque Terre
Generations of life have carved a unique landscape along the steep terraces of this coastal region. Spanning more than 7,000km, this UNESCO World Heritage Site and protected national park includes five seaside villages. These are best explored on foot, following ancient footpaths through captivating natural landscapes to see in Portofino.
Departing from Portofino, the first village you reach is Monterosso al Mare, famed for its large beach and promenade. Vernazza is a natural port, protected by the sea making it the only safe landing point of all five villages. Corniglia nestles on a hill surrounded by vineyards, while Manarola and Riomaggiore cling impossibly to the cliff face.
Walking times between the villages:
Monterosso – Vernazza: 2 hours
Vernazza – Corniglia: 1 hour 30 minutes
