Projeto Onças do Iguaçu
Hotel das Cataras are proud supporters of the Onças do Iguaçu project – a jaguar conservation initiative in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. The project is helping communities to coexist more harmoniously with jaguars through a combination of scientific research, community education and awareness-raising. Thanks to their efforts, the local jaguar population has grown from just 11 in 2009 to 25 today.
Hotel das Cataratas are proud to support this important work. From hosting the conservation team during intense field campaigns to purchasing handmade goods from local community projects, the hotel is deeply engaged in helping the initiative thrive. Even the cocktail menu contributes; guests can order the Caipirinha Onça Pintada, created especially to celebrate the jaguars of Iguaçu, with proceeds supporting the project’s fundraising and awareness efforts. These moments also create meaningful opportunities for project staff to connect with guests who may go on to become sponsors or long-term supporters.
