Hotel das Cataratas: Haven Besides the Falls

Aerial view of Belmond Hotel das Cataratas among jungles by the Iguassu Falls

At Hotel das Cataratas, step into nature’s wonders and explore freely the park of Iguassu, from day to night.

At Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel, you’ll have unrivalled access to the breathtaking Iguassu Falls and its surrounding parkland. Whilst all other visitors must adhere to the strict 9-5 opening hours, our location inside the park gives our guests up to six additional hours of freedom to explore.

The benefit of this cannot be understated: secluded trails have a heavenly feel, while each unobstructed view demands a photograph. Alone in Iguassu, you’re in nature’s thrall. Taking in the dramatic falls in the rosy dawn light is both spectacular and humbling. Listen to the roar of the water as you feast your eyes on magnificent vistas in near solitude.

Yet anyone who’s visited Belmond Hotel das Cataratas will know that there’s more to this charming hotel than its stunning location. There are no other buildings for miles around. You’ll spot our colonial tower protruding through the trees. Let it guide you through the dense jungle towards our welcoming pink facade.

Step through our doors into a world of understated luxury. Floors are made of rich dark wood and bathrooms finished in white marble. Beds are dressed in crisp Egyptian cotton and cosmetics brought from Brazil’s oldest apothecary.

This is a place to while away days. Soak up sounds of the jungle as you float in our infinity pool, or stroll through gardens bejeweled by orchids and bromeliads. Feeling indulgent? Head to our spa for a rainforest scrub like no other. Ingredients are sourced in the surrounding jungle; our treatments draw on the delights of the Amazon.

As the sun goes down, enjoy views from the terrace sipping a cool caipirinha. Feeling adventurous? Don’t leave without trying mixologist Nacir’s special ‘Devil’s Throat’ cocktail. Named after the horseshoe waterfall, it’s perfection in a glass.

Speaking of Nacir, it’s the staff that truly make this place so special. He runs impromptu classes giving guests the lowdown on how to mix the perfect drink. Our guide Edso offers bio-tours of the park’s fauna where you may be lucky enough to see toucans, turtles and anything between. Chef Luiz, who tends the grill at Ipê, is a gaucho chef like no other. Watch him work and pick up some tips, before savouring delights straight from his Brazilian barbecue.
