About

Origins of Brunch

The now-beloved breakfast-lunch combination is attributed to the English writer Guy Beringer, who coined the word “brunch”. He proposed the idea in 1895 as the ideal way to cure a Sunday morning hangover. He exhorted friends to get together over a cheerful late-morning feast, often with the ‘hair of the dog’, and share stories of the night before.
