Board Belmond Pivoine in Châlons-en-Champagne, meeting your captain and crew in style over a champagne reception. Continue the indulgence with a sumptuous dinner prepared by the onboard chef.Before meeting the barge, your private chauffeur will escort you to the magnificent baroque Château Vaux-le-Vicomte. The former home of 17th-century parliamentarian Nicolas Fouquet also boasts spectacular gardens.

Join the barge and get to know your captain and crew with a champagne reception and tasting. Later, look forward to your first gourmet dinner on board.



Following breakfast, set off on a guided tour of Châlons-en-Champagne. Attractions include the gothic Saint-Étienne Cathedral, museum of the Notre-Dame-en-Vaux Cloister and three glorious gardens.

Return to the barge for your first afternoon of cruising. Later, visit Dom Pérignon’s tomb at the abbey in Hautvillers. Before dinner, enjoy a tasting and a sabering demonstration at the family-run champagne house of Ployez-Jacquemart.



This morning continue your leisurely journey along the canal. The slow pace means you can easily alight from the barge to stroll or cycle along the towpath.

After lunch take a scenic drive to the house of Champagne J. de Telmont. Here you’ll spend a fascinating afternoon participating in their unique oenological workshop.



Greet the day early and accompany the chef to the bustling covered market in Épernay, selecting ingredients for today’s lunch. After take time to explore this lovely town—the Avenue de Champagne shouldn’t be missed. Enjoy a private tasting at Moêt & Chandon before returning to the boat for lunch.

The rest of the afternoon is spent cruising to Jaulgonne, our mooring for the night.



Enjoy a relaxed cruise along the winding River Marne to Château-Thierry. Disembark for lunch at a sumptuous Relais & Châteaux restaurant on the outskirts of Reims.

Afterwards, enjoy a guided tour of the city; an important centre of champagne production and the site where some 34 French sovereigns were crowned. Return to the barge for dinner.



This morning set off on a picturesque drive to Belleau Wood, the site of a famous World War I battle , and the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial.

Before returning to the barge, head to the enchanting medieval town of Chézy-sur-Marne for a taste of the famous Brie de Meaux in a local fromagerie. Back on board, relax and enjoy a final gastronomic dinner.



After breakfast, the crew bids you farewell as you disembark for your onward travel arrangements.
