Belmond Myanmar Foundation
We are very proud of what has been achieved, but there is still much to be done
Starting out with a modest aim and the inspirational efforts of Doctor Hla Tun, Belmond’s first project in Myanmar was to build a school for local children in the port town of Shwe Kyet Yet.
Twenty years on, our commitment to this beautiful country has seen the development of a further twenty schools and a free health clinic in Bagan, as well as pop-up clinics wherever possible.
Through the Belmond Myanmar Foundation, a locally based non-profit organisation, we can keep improving education, healthcare and help reduce poverty in Myanmar. Please help us continue our work.
Medical Funding
A patient who earns just $2 a day often needs to save at least $40 to travel to our clinic. Many sell their animals or borrow money from their families just to reach it, so it is crucial that the medical care they receive is free. Your donations go towards the medical treatments of someone in need and help to keep funding pop-up clinics to reach more people.
MDonations for Schools
Educational support goes towards books, computers, stationary, and even school buildings and electricity. Our foundation provides teachers’ salaries and scholarships to send children for further education. We have seen the benefits as generations return to their communities and join in supporting a prosperous future for this beautiful country.
