Our story began in 1956, when Giuseppe Cipriani decided to build a hotel for the global jetset; those wanting to be close to St Mark’s square but away from the city’s bustle. Two years later, the hotel opened its doors and the jetsetters arrived, from silver screen stars to European royals, aristocrats and socialites.
Our guest book is a treasure. Inside you’ll find dedications and memories penned by Sophia Loren, Cary Grant, George and Amal Clooney and Lady Gaga. But it’s our first entry, written by French actress Martine Carol, that shines brightest: “I’ve travelled three times around the world, but this where I want to stay.”
