The Luick swimming pool was originally built in 1957 and opened in 1958 as a result of a generous donation from local resident and philanthropist Chester P. Luick. Mr. Luick donated a significant portion of the funds needed to build the community’s first pool. A number of volunteers labored for weeks on the construction of the pool.

A renovation was completed in 1995 when the city replaced the gutter and filter system and added a slide – which was one of the first slides in North Iowa. The city began another renovation and expansion program in the spring of 2007 by repairing and repainting the bottom of the pool. Following the closing of the pool in August 2007, the expansion project began to put a zero depth entry at the northwest side of the pool. Amenities will be added to the pool in the coming years. These future improvements will include: a children’s activity unit, drop slide, geysers, etc.
