The Belmond Medical Center (BMC)
is a partner with Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa (MMC-NI) and benefits
being associated with the MMC-NI affiliation by a profit/loss sharing, specialized
services, group buying and referral patterns. BMC is a community owned
rural healthcare facility, in a combined hospital and clinic setting. The
hospital is a licensed facility which cares for patients on the following
levels of care: Inpatient Acute Care - nursing care provided 7 days a week,
24 hours a day; Skilled Nursing Care - care provided after period of acute;
Long Term Care - Belcare, daily basic care provided to these patients which
is private pay and Inpatient Hospice Care. BMC have an emergency room that
is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Inpatient, Outpatient and Same
Day surgery is provided. Several specialty clinics are also held each month.
The Belmond Medical Center is also responsible for managing the Belmond
YMCA Fitness and Health Center which opened in December 1998. Several benefits
of having a health and fitness center within the community are the promotion
of overall wellness, providing the community with a quality fitness and health
center at affordable pricing; a center to serve all ages as well as a variety
of taste and interest; and an adequate facility for rehabilitation and therapy.
The Belmond Volunteer Ambulance Services consist of a group of people
who have taken the EMT training through a college course that provides training
for pre-hospital care. They are State Certified and also do training classes
monthly.
The Belmond Health Care Center
is a skilled nursing facility rehabilitation and living center which provides
private, Medicare and Medicaid services. The excellent range of services
they provide are: physical, occupational and speech therapy, 24-hour nursing
care, discharge planning, rehabilitative and restorative nursing, individual
care planning, social services, home-cooked meals, medical directory, quality
assurance program and complete activity schedule. The Care Center also designed
an Adult Day Program for people who need supervision during the day.
North Central Human Services
is a private non-profit corporation that provides to people with mental
retardation, residential and vocational services and skills for living in
the world.
Belmond is very fortunate in having facilities for all your health and
medical needs including: two chiropractors, licensed massage therapist, hearing
aide center, optometrist, dentist and pharmacy. Medical equipment is available
for use or may be purchased.
