Belmond is privileged to have excellent cultural facilities. With an
art museum and a historical museum, Belmond offers cultural facilities and
activities one would expect to find only in much larger cities.
The Jenison-Meacham
Memorial Art Center, Museum and Farmstead, built and operated by the Belmond
Area Arts Council, offers art exhibits, as well as classes. Annual events
include the Antique Power and Country Craft Show, featuring farm and home
demonstrations from the 1930’s, the Arcade Art Festival, which combines workshops
and displays by local and visiting artists.
The annual Fourth of July celebration provides a day-long event with
parade, games, entertainment, barbecued lunch and
culminating with the ground
and aerial
fireworks display in Iowa.
Recreation areas include: Movie theater,
Extreme Sports Park, bowling
alley, golf course, bike/walking path, public library, swimming pool with
giant water slide, youth and adult sports organized by the Belmond Parks
and Rec. Dept., Iowa River RV Park, and the YMCA Health and Fitness Center.
