Nestled in the heart of Iguaçu National Park, Hotel das Cataratas offers not only a unique getaway but also a commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. As part of one of the most significant remnants of the Atlantic Forest in South America and adjacent to the breathtaking Iguaçu Falls, the hotel is dedicated to operating conscientiously, respecting both the environment and the local community.
Environment and Social Impact
Our hotel has earned the ISO 14001 certification for Environmental Management and the SA 8000 certification for Social Accountability. ISO 14001 sets the standard for effective environmental management systems, helping businesses integrate environmental responsibilities into their operations.
Meanwhile, SA 8000 ensures that we consider the social impact of our activities, along with the working conditions of our employees, partners, and suppliers.
Our sustainable practices
- Exclusively using biodegradable cleaning products to minimize its environmental footprint.
- Providing ongoing training to its team to ensure the responsible use of natural resources and reduce environmental impact.
- Conducting an annual environmental cleanup in partnership with Iguaçu National Park, resulting in the removal of approximately 2000 kg of waste from the forest.

- Utilizing LED lighting in 97% of the hotel, reducing electricity consumption and environmental impact.
- Transporting employees and guests in authorized vehicles to preserve the park's ecosystem.
- Maintaining an organic garden to promote sustainable agriculture practices.
- Implementing a comprehensive waste management system, including the recycling of kitchen oil, industrial waste, electronic waste, and dry recyclables.
Our sustainable practices
- Operating our own wastewater treatment plant, which removes pollutants and returns treated effluent to the environment in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Supporting the Onças do Iguaçu project in collaboration with Iguaçu National Park and the National Center for Research and Conservation of Natural Predators (CENAP/ICMBio) to protect jaguars and pumas in the park region.
- Utilizing 100% renewable or clean energy sourced from certified providers.

For reservations made after 1 October 2023 park fees are included in the daily rate and there is no need to purchase them separately (this doesn't apply to special/promotional rates).
