Belmond is a shining example of small town pride in the heartland of America. As a visitor to Belmond, you will experience quiet city parks, a lush golf course, cultural exhibits, lively performances, sporting events and of course, the kind spirit of our people. Year-round festivals and celebrations give you the flavor of the American spirit.
- The most celebrated occasion is 4th of July when the city draws alumni, family and friends from miles around.
- The Belmond Area Arts Council organizes the Prairie Homestead Antique Power and Country Craft Show every August and is a two day event.
- The Christmas Parade of Lights (the Friday after Thanksgiving) kicks off the holiday season and weeks of activities.
- In 2002, Belmond volunteers constructed the first year-round Santa House in Iowa. The Santa House is located on Main Street and may be toured by any visitors. You will find it decorated with Santa's favorite items all year long.
Generations of families have lived and worked here providing a rich heritage of friendliness and caring along with a strong work ethic. Historically, agriculture has played the most significant role in the shaping of Belmond. More recently industries including manufacturing and printing have diversified the economy.
