When and where do the trains travel?
The Belmond British Pullman & Belmond Northern Belle travel year-round to a wide variety of destinations.
Departure stations include London Victoria, Manchester, Leeds, Crewe, Liverpool and many more throughout the UK.
Can you guarantee a table for two?
Belmond British Pullman - Tables for two are limited. We are happy to take your request, however this is not a guarantee and there is a chance that you will share a table for four with another couple.
Belmond Northern Belle - Tables for two are limited. We are happy to take your request, however this is not a guarantee and there is a chance that you will share a table for four with another couple. To guarantee a table for two you may purchase our Premier Package which will also include a bottle of champagne. Please contact your nearest reservations office for more information.
When will we receive our confirmed itinerary and travel documents?
Your travel documents and itinerary will be sent to you by post once we have received confirmed timings from Network Rail (approximately 5 to 7 days prior to departure).
Can we travel overnight?
No. Neither train have sleeping compartments. However, we do offer weekend journeys. Please visit Overnights for more information.
Are all our meals and drinks included?
While you are on board your meals and drinks, as described in the itinerary, are included. A selected range of alternative alcoholic drinks are also available for purchase.
Can you cater for special dietary requirements such as vegetarian?
Yes. If notified at the time of booking, we will do our best to comply with any dietary requirements. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide meals requiring strict religious observance in preparation.
Can people with disabilities travel on the train?
We are able to accommodate passengers with slight walking difficulties. However, we recommend they are accompanied by a carer. We regret that our carriages cannot be boarded on wheelchair. Staff are able to assist passengers to their seats and folding wheelchairs can be stored during the journey.
Some journeys are not suitable for people with disabilities. Should you have any special requirements please contact your nearest reservations office.
Can children travel on board?
Journeys are planned to maximise the enjoyment of the scenery while fine food, champagne and wine are served at your table. We have a superb selection of journeys for families. Families will be seated in a designated area of the trains.
What do I need to wear on board?
Dress code varies according to the journey. For specific information on your journey please locate it on our Journey Search and refer to the what to wear section. Please note that we ask travellers not to wear jeans or trainers.
Can I smoke on board?
Both trains operate a no smoking policy aboard its UK trains.
Will I need travel insurance?
The Belmond British Pullman & Northern Belle recommend that you purchase adequate travel insurance for your trip, including cover for loss of deposits and/or other costs that you might incur if you cancel your reservation. Orient-Express cannot be held responsible for any loss of this kind. Details are contained within the booking conditions.
Can you arrange accommodation if we want to stay overnight in London?

Can I get a group discount?
Yes. The minimum number of passengers required to qualify for a group discount is 16. The Belmond British Pullman & Northern Belle can also be chartered. Further details are available in the Groups & Charters section of this site.
Can I get married on board the train?
No, we do not hold a wedding license. It is possible for a blessing to take place on board after the formal marriage.
Are the Belmond British Pullman & Northern Belle historic trains?
Is the train pulled by a steam engine?
Yes, on selected dates. Where advertised, every effort is made to operate using steam traction for all or part of the journey. It is possible that diesel or electric traction may have to be substituted at short notice. In this event a full or partial refund may be apply.
Can I buy souvenirs or presents on board?
Yes. Smaller items can be purchased on board, while larger gifts can be ordered through our catalogue or the Signature Boutique website.
