BIDCO is made up of 11 directors with 3- year staggered terms.
Regular monthly meetings are a must as their goal is to secure industrial prospects.
The group assists with financial packages for prospective and existing businesses through the CAP fund, Wright County Economic Revolving Loan Fund and various other sources. BIDCO maintains the Community Quick Reference Guide online as well as a current listing of available industrial properties in our community on the state’s LOIS website.
To share responsibilities, committees formed are LOIS, Prospect Visitation, Existing Industry, Support Materials, Legal & Finance, Housing and Annual Meeting committees.
The group has sponsored Wright County Labor surveys along with Wright County Economic Development, IDED and NIACC. Along with Dennis Bowman, the Wright County Economic Director, the members visit with prospective businesses through the CVN (Community Venture Network) as well as local efforts and referrals.
The organization sponsors a “Bi-Annual Salute to Industry” breakfast for the local businesses. They also own a 30-1/2 acre site, south of Belmond, complete with water and sewer service lines. BIDCO recently initiated the formation of a group of investors to build a spec building in the Industrial Park south of Belmond, with the hopes of enticing new businesses or current businesses wishing to expand.
